Section 1: Campaign Scenes

A few scenes taken from my last Traveller PBEM campaign. Click on the thumbnail for the full 800x600 picture.

The campaign begins. This picture shows the Far Trader Lady Eloise sitting on a pad at Edaazun Downport. One of the passengers or new crew members has just arrived.

Notes:
I'm not completely happy with the water in this scene - it looked fine until I did the final render, but then it came out a bit odd in the background.
The cargo containers are based on Paul Lesack's Famille Spofulam design.

POV 3.1

Lady Eloise sitting on a pad at Edaazun Downport - version 2.

Notes:
The above scene converted to Cinema 4D. No air/raft or cargo containers because I haven't built them yet!

The Lady Eloise leaves Edaazun - Part 1

Notes:
Animation of the ship taking off. I had to change the sea slightly to get the waves to move. Titles & fades added with Jasc Animation Shop.
18 seconds. 2.77Mb .avi.

The Lady Eloise leaves Edaazun - Part 2

Notes:
Animation of the ship leaving the planet and jumping out-system.
7 seconds. 1.32Mb .avi.

The Lady Eloise approaches the Subsidised Merchant Midnight Sun, found drifting in the Langelos system.

Notes:
The SM model is fairly crude - you can't actually see much detail, so there wasn't much point putting it in. I've made the texture a lot lighter than it really should be, otherwise you wouldn't see anything at all (the ship actually has an Ultra Black hull).
Antialiasing has made the stars disappear, which I'll have to fix.
Yes, those are more Famille Spofulam crates.
If you're wondering why you never see the Lady Eloise's port side, that's because I've not finished drawing the textures!

POV 3.1

In a briefing room aboard the Imperial Navy Cruiser Ashtown, Commander Brynn and Lt Commander Connor wait to question the party.

Notes:
My first attempt at at using Poser figures in a scene.
The chairs and coffee machine were found on the net.

Poser 4.03

The Lady Eloise approaches Yenisei's Mariel Highport. The Subsidised Liner Spirit of Dingir and the Far Trader Leona can be seen docked at the nearest spoke.

Notes:
The docking bays probably should have doors, but I think they look nicer open.
Almost every spacecraft model I've created is in here, most of them twice (oh, look, there's the Leona again in the background...). I created two new (very basic) designs especially for it - the green 3000-ton cargo ships on the rear spokes, and the red/brown 15000-ton ship approaching from top right - but still half the bays are empty. Oh, and no, the ships aren't in the bays they actually were in in the game!

POV 3.1

twylodown_small.jpg

The Lady Eloise sits on pad 420 at Twylo Downport as the crew finish unloading the cargo.

Notes:
This picture was abandoned rather than finished (like the campaign, sadly). The background buildings are unfinished, and there are some strange shadow problems.

Notes:
Our ship - 2000 tons of pirate nastiness! (Pity it looks a bit like a duck billed platypus...)

Okay, so that's actually Saturn they're orbiting.

Notes:
Not actually a scene from the game, but I'd just finished reading GURPS Traveller: Starships and all the combat scenes in there made me want to try one of my own.
